Un-grateful people-their character and consequences-context of the Al Quran,

002.243 Didst thou not turn by vision to those who abandoned their homes, though they were thousands (in number), for fear of death? God said to them: "Die": Then He restored them to life. For God is full of bounty to mankind, but most of them are ungrateful.

007.010 It is We Who have placed you with authority on earth, and provided you therein with means for the fulfillment of your life: small are the thanks that ye give!

010.011 If God were to hasten for men the ill (they have earned) as they would fain hasten on the good,- then would their respite be settled at once. But We leave those who rest not their hope on their meeting with Us, in their trespasses, wandering in distraction to and fro.
010.012 When trouble toucheth a man, He crieth unto Us (in all postures)- lying down on his side, or sitting, or standing. But when We have solved his trouble, he passeth on his way as if he had never cried to Us for a trouble that touched him! thus do the deeds of transgressors seem fair in their eyes!

010.021 When We make mankind taste of some mercy after adversity hath touched them, behold! they take to plotting against Our Signs! Say: "Swifter to plan is God!" Verily, Our messengers record all the plots that ye make!
010.022 He it is Who enableth you to traverse through land and sea; so that ye even board ships;- they sail with them with a favourable wind, and they rejoice thereat; then comes a stormy wind and the waves come to them from all sides, and they think they are being overwhelmed: they cry unto God, sincerely offering (their) duty unto Him saying, "If thou dost deliver us from this, we shall truly show our gratitude!"
010.023 But when he delivereth them, behold! they transgress insolently through the earth in defiance of right! O mankind! your insolence is against your own souls ,- an enjoyment of the life of the present: in the end, to Us is your return, and We shall show you the truth of all that ye did.
010.060 And what think those who invent lies against God, of the Day of Judgment? Verily God is full of bounty to mankind, but most of them are ungrateful.

011.009 If We give man a taste of Mercy from Ourselves, and then withdraw it from him, behold! he is in despair and (falls into) blasphemy.
011.010 But if We give him a taste of (Our) favours after adversity hath touched him, he is sure to say, "All evil has departed from me:" Behold! he falls into exultation and pride.
011.011 Not so do those who show patience and constancy, and work righteousness; for them is forgiveness (of sins) and a great reward.

Surah 14 - Ibrahim ABRAHAM
014.007 And remember! your Lord caused to be declared (publicly): "If ye are grateful, I will add more (favours) unto you; But if ye show ingratitude, truly My punishment is terrible indeed."
014.034 And He giveth you of all that ye ask for. But if ye count the favours of God, never will ye be able to number them. Verily, man is given up to injustice and ingratitude.
Surah 16 - Al Nahl BEES
016.053 And ye have no good thing but is from God: and moreover, when ye are touched by distress, unto Him ye cry with groans;
016.054 Yet, when He removes the distress from you, behold! some of you turn to other gods to join with their Lord-
016.055 (As if) to show their ingratitude for the favours we have bestowed on them! then enjoy (your brief day): but soon will ye know (your folly)!
Surah 17 - Al Isra' THE NIGHT JOURNEY
017.067 When distress seizes you at sea, those that ye call upon - besides Himself - leave you in the lurch! but when He brings you back safe to land, ye turn away (from Him). Most ungrateful is man!
Surah 22 - Al Hajj THE PILGRIMAGE
022.038 Verily God will defend (from ill) those who believe: verily, God loveth not any that is a traitor to faith, or shows ingratitude.

023.078 It is He Who has created for you (the faculties of) hearing, sight, feeling and understanding: little thanks it is ye give!
Surah 29 - Al 'Ankabut THE SPIDER
029.010 Then there are among men such as say, "We believe in God"; but when they suffer affliction in (the cause of) God, they treat men's oppression as if it were the Wrath of God! And if help comes (to thee) from thy Lord, they are sure to say, "We have (always) been with you!" Does not God know best all that is in the hearts of all creation?
029.065 Now, if they embark on a boat, they call on God, making their devotion sincerely (and exclusively) to Him; but when He has delivered them safely to (dry) land, behold, they give a share (of their worship to others)!-
029.066 Disdaining ungratefully Our gifts, and giving themselves up to (worldly) enjoyment! But soon will they know.
029.067 Do they not then see that We have made a sanctuary secure, and that men are being snatched away from all around them? Then, do they believe in that which is vain, and reject the Grace of God?
Surah 30 - Al Rum THE ROMANS
030.033 When trouble touches men, they cry to their Lord, turning back to Him in repentance: but when He gives them a taste of Mercy as from Himself, behold, some of them pay part-worship to other god's besides their Lord,-
030.034 (As if) to show their ingratitude for the (favours) We have bestowed on them! Then enjoy (your brief day); but soon will ye know (your folly).
Surah 31 - Luqman LUQMAN
031.031 Seest thou not that the ships sail through the ocean by the Grace of God?- that He may show you of His Signs? Verily in this are Signs for all who constantly persevere and give thanks.
031.032 When a wave covers them like the canopy (of clouds), they call to God, offering Him sincere devotion. But when He has delivered them safely to land, there are among them those that halt between (right and wrong). But none reject Our Signs except only a perfidious ungrateful (wretch)!
Surah 34 - Saba' SHEBA
034.017 That was the Requital We gave them because they ungratefully rejected Faith: and never do We give (such) requital except to such as are ungrateful rejecters.
Surah 36 - Ya Sin YA SIN
036.033 A Sign for them is the earth that is dead: We do give it life, and produce grain therefrom, of which ye do eat.
036.034 And We produce therein orchard with date-palms and vines, and We cause springs to gush forth therein:
036.035 That they may enjoy the fruits of this (artistry): It was not their hands that made this: will they not then give thanks?

Surah 39 - Al Zumar CROWDS
039.008 When some trouble toucheth man, he crieth unto his Lord, turning to Him in repentance: but when He bestoweth a favour upon him as from Himself, (man) doth forget what he cried and prayed for before, and he doth set up rivals unto God, thus misleading others from God's Path. Say, "Enjoy thy blasphemy for a little while: verily thou art (one) of the Companions of the Fire!"
039.049 Now, when trouble touches man, he cries to Us: But when We bestow a favour upon him as from Ourselves, he says, "This has been given to me because of a certain knowledge (I have)!" Nay, but this is but a trial, but most of them understand not!
Surah 41 - Fussilat EXPOUNDED
041.049 Man does not weary of asking for good (things), but if ill touches him, he gives up all hope (and) is lost in despair.
041.050 When we give him a taste of some Mercy from Ourselves, after some adversity has touched him, he is sure to say, "This is due to my (merit): I think not that the Hour (of Judgement) will (ever) be established; but if I am brought back to my Lord, I have (much) good (stored) in His sight!" But We will show the Unbelievers the truth of all that they did, and We shall give them the taste of a severe Penalty.
041.051 When We bestow favours on man, he turns away, and gets himself remote on his side (instead of coming to Us); and when evil seizes him, (he comes) full of prolonged prayer!
Surah 42 - Al Shura CONSULTATION
042.015 Now then, for that (reason), call (them to the Faith), and stand steadfast as thou art commanded, nor follow thou their vain desires; but say: "I believe in the Book which Allah has sent down; and I am commanded to judge justly between you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord: for us (is the responsibility for) our deeds, and for you for your deeds. There is no contention between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is (our) final goal.

Surah 100 - Al 'Adiyat THOSE THAT RUN
100.001 By the (Steeds) that run, with panting (breath),
100.002 And strike sparks of fire,
100.003 And push home the charge in the morning,
100.004 And raise the dust in clouds the while,
100.005 And penetrate forthwith into the midst (of the foe) en masse;-
100.006 Truly man is, to his Lord, ungrateful;
100.007 And to that (fact) he bears witness (by his deeds);
100.008 And violent is he in his love of wealth.
100.009 Does he not know,- when that which is in the graves is scattered abroad
100.010 And that which is (locked up) in (human) breasts is made manifest-
100.011 That their Lord had been Well-acquainted with them, (even to) that Day?
